Books vs
Computer Games

This is a massive subject and has been talked about by scientists, to mum’s trying to get their children off the computer or console. Ask yourself have you ever lay down in bed with the sun shining through your window, or the rain pouring down on your roof and read a good book for half an hour, and just relaxed?..............

A good book can put you in a world where you feel like you’re inside the book and the characters are next to you. Have you felt the feeling of a cliffhanger and you urging to know what happened next. Of course as a kid I love computer games and they are great for having a good time quick and great for chatting to your friends. But books have a way of releasing stress or tension, The fun of a good book or series lasts way longer than a quick burst of technology. I don't mean phones as much they’re great for contacting friends and family but in  computer games you can’t contact your family, you end up on your own in your room spending hours and hours wasting time on your laptop.

People have done so much research on this topic and have proved that gaming can be linked to aggressive behavior and poor grades in school. people are spending more time worrying about getting home than concentrating on work. It’s no lie that videogames cause attention problems, people are constantly thinking about getting home and jumping on the computer than thinking about school work. Video games also are the answer to sleep problems, kids would rather lose sleep than lose hours of computer games.

Violent video games have always been up there in the charts of the top selling are are thought by some to be the most addictive. For some people it’s their life, competing in competitions and making it their world around them. For most people they don’t take gaming too seriously after they hit late teenage hood, but you read throughout your life, if it’s the menu of a restaurant or a magazine, you always read, people don’t usually game in their later life though.

In conclusion kids and teens will always be very connected to technology and more in the coming years, but books are becoming more and more distant to kids and teens in the meantime. If you really don’t like books than read a comic book it has the same effect. The facts done by scientists are true to only some video games. Sleep problems are only caused by yourself staying up too late and aggressive behaviour is linked to only certain games. All in all we should spend time doing both, vary who in the evenings and weekends and always remember to exercise. By Laurence

I was in class working hard when I had an idea, I shouted out my idea to the teacher. My teacher was gobsmacked, “Screenshot 2016-07-07 at 09.43.17.png you want to go to Screenshot 2016-07-07 at 09.41.18.pngto get on a Screenshot 2016-07-07 at 09.45.12.pngbus. Just to have a Screenshot 2016-07-07 at 09.46.16.pngparty, that’s a brilliant idea.” I thought that my teacher would blow a Screenshot 2016-07-07 at 09.49.36.pngat me. This was brilliant, my teacher thought that having a Screenshot 2016-07-07 at 09.46.16.pngparty on a Screenshot 2016-07-07 at 09.45.12.pngbus was a good idea. This calls for a   Screenshot 2016-07-07 at 11.59.05.png   , yes as you can see I love parties especially Screenshot 2016-07-07 at 12.06.02.pngparties. I couldn’t wait.

This is my Rebus Writing we had to use chocolate bars and we used the words on the wrapper instead of actual words.

Term Two Writing

This term we have been looking at ways to make our writing more interesting for the reader.
We have used the following criteria to guide us:
  • Changing the word order of a sentence
  • Using literary devices such as metaphor, simile, alliteration, onomatopoeia and  personification
  • Using specific verbs and adjectives
  • Using  show, don’t tell techniques
  • Using different sentence beginnings and lengths

Show Don’t Tell - Emotions

Happy: I had a big smile on my face when my mum told me that we were going to America, I looked upu all the places we were going to. My heart was beating rapidly when we were setting off to the airport, I was ready to start my holidays.

Sad: My shoulders drooped, my eyes watering I shuffled to my room to try and find my teddy. Hugging myself, shivering feeling all alone I crawled onto my bed desperate to find my teddy.

Angry: Huffing and puffing, stomping on the ground I couldn’t believe that my mum had stopped me from going to the cinema. I picked up my lamp and shattered it on the floor, I didn’t really want to but I did it anyway. I throw myself on my bed and cried.

The Dancing Monkey

She was in her room reading an old book that she had read hundreds of times before but she loved it still. Then she faintly heard a old record that she had never heard before in the background. She got up to investigate. She slowly opened the door, it creeked sharply while being unlocked. Standing there was a monkey dancing to the old tune. She was so shocked that she couldn’t speak for a second then she came to her senses and asked politely if he could tell her what he was doing here. Instead he fastened the pace of the record and danced faster until she had asked him to stop 25 times, yes she counted. In the end she just shut the door and went back to reading her book.

The Boy
Screenshot 2016-06-30 at 11.43.12.pngFred was walking back from school one day when he heard a strange noise from the bush, he left his bag on the side of the road and made his way into the bush. Laying there bleeding was a dog, her long hair was plated down with blood. Who could have done this Fred thought, there was no one around so he lifted the dog by himself being very careful because he could see how much pain she was in. He left his bag and ran to the nearest building, he ran into the shop holding the dying dog. “What happened Fred” the shopkeeper said in a worried glance, Fred was a regular in the local village shop. “I did nothing, I swear, I found her like this please help her”. We’ll see what we can do,” we carried the dog to the living room and layed her down on the carpet. “Fred go get the bottle of disinfectant and some bandages!!” Fred ran to the bathroom and opened the cabinet, snatched the disinfected and badges. He arrived back in the living room with the medical equipment, he glanced at the dog and started crying, the dog was a horrible sight. He felt sorry for the poor dog. The dog regained her former health in the next few days, Fred couldn’t find the carer for the beautiful dog so she stayed with him

Viking Girl
“Mum I want an Ipad air 2,” she shouted grumpily. “NO!” Mum screamed back.”Mum,”
Screenshot 2016-05-30 at 09.48.11.png“No.” She thought it was so unfair that she wasn’t allowed an ipad, stormed out and slammed her door after herself. She returned later that evening with her viking helmet on, she looked very angry. Mum ventured into her room just to find a massacre of ripped teddies, she strode out the door to find the spoiled girl.

Cross Country

This is a graph of my times when we were practising around the school for Cross Country.

Cross Country
For the cross country I was one of the helpers with: Josh, Sam, Ashton and a couple of others. It was so fun helping the little kids find their way to the finish line and fun to do it with people I knew, I can’t say I didn’t talk to them, but that was all part of the fun. When it came to run myself I was very tired, I was one the last people to stagger over the finish line. I did not get a number but it was still very fun.
Our science group crushed a can with Mrs G, It created a vacuum which
sucked all the air out of the can which crushed it.
